- What are the barriers to academics more effectively engaging with civil society organisations and communities in relation to enhancing food security? How might these be overcome?
- How can indigenous/traditional/lay knowledges around food production, processing and consumption be better integrated into academic research on food security and its place within sustainable development?
- What institutional changes might be needed within universities to encourage more effective links between academics and scientists working on food security and sustainable development and civil society organisations and communities?
- Does future sustainable food security lie in a greater emphasis on localised, low-carbon and more organic forms of food production, processes and consumption?
