Format:

This workshop will focus on sharing examples of research which involves older people and their groups and the lessons for the Science Shop network and knowledge exchange.  It has been structured to encourage the involvement of all the participants.  The presentations will last for around 10 minutes each and the chair will then facilitate discusssion between all participants for the remainder of the session.

Questions:

Discussion will focus on the following three questions:

  • What are the implications of using a participatory research model when researching vulnerable or minority groups?
  • How can the research community encourage older people to have a 'voice'?
  • How can Science Shops support and inform research relating to demographic change?
