"Local-to-global dissemination of community-based knowledge"  Center for Urban Research and Learning, Loyola University, Chicago, USA and Office of Community-Based Research, University of Victoria, Canada

Format:

This roundtable will be focused on developments that are of direct concern to the networking of science shops and similar organisations and their stakeholders. Presentations will be limited in time. Participants will be expected to raise additional questions and share their ideas for strengthening networking and knowledge exchange.

The presentations will focus on various avenues for science shops and similar to disseminate their knowledge to broader public audiences and other collaborative research networks. Building on experience in creating international e-journals, research centres, and global CBPR networks, participants will be involved in exploring existing and potential new ways to disseminate data and research outcomes as well as engage global colleagues in ongoing discussions around emerging research issues.

Questions:

This workshop intends to get feedback for future activities within Living Knowledge:

- How can  the publication of outcomes/products of science shop work so that other science shops around the world can have access to results (e.g.; how can they communicate ongoing work within local or regional contexts; how can they make use of e.g. e-journals such as Gateways, Manifestations, and the many other CBPR outlets;  use of Web 2.0 applications to facilitate knowledge exchange among science shops and CBPR networks.
